About Us

The way things started

I started fishing very young, I had several citations by the time I was 16. At this time I started to target trophy fish and by the time I was 20 I had several cats over 40 pounds. then things turned and I got away from it for a while. Then I met Virginia, she loved fishing as much as I did. we started fishing every chance we could, from the banks. We bought a boat later and I was showing her my photos from back in the day and telling her about the fish we used to catch on the river. Well that did it, I now have my best friend, girlfriend, fishing partner, and most strong compition all in one package!!! She has no problem going out in the cold or gloom and hooking a monster, she loves the relaxing way we set there on the hole and wait, She is one of the quickest studies I have ever tought. She has her rigs and I have mine, she is one of the best female anglers I know. I told her one year I thought it would be fun to enter a small tournament and let her see how the competion is on the river. she loved it and took second in the womans division and 4TH over all in her first tournament. She is hooked for life.

What a ride it's been, we are on the water most weekends all summer long, sometimes spending more money on fuel for the boat in a week than on the truck used to get to boat to the ramp. Winter slows her down some but not me. I love the piece and quiet of winter catfishing. I have several friends that come in for these outings and we all enjoy life, the river and Mr. Wiskers when he decides to join us. I will have several pictures of our friends and their catches aboard Team Kattitude's boat. Just look in the photo album section for their stories.

Some of the areas we are involved with

Team Kattitude is working with several groups to help clean up and restore our waterways and rivers to their natural and pristine conditions. We have friends in the James River Parks service, The James River beautification society, Virginia Marine Resources Commission, Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, Clean Virginia. Org, and many others. We strive to relate the efforts of these organizations to the public and to help them in any way we can to restore our fisheries to their natural and flourishing nature.

The team Name

This was a real problem. We just could not decide on a team name. so we were kicking around some ideas. Neither could or would agree on anything as men and women do some times. I told her she had an attitude! Well that did it Team Kattitude was borne. We ordered the decals for the boat and after installing them, it changed her attitude on catfishing completely. Now she attacks every trip with KATTITUDE!!!! and I sit back and enjoy every trip, watching her fight the cats and complain that I am not allowing her to work the hole the way she wants. I then do things her way and BAM!!! FISH ON!!!! One day I'll learn, maybe.

Mission statement

Our goal at Team Kattitude is to promote the sport of catfishing and to reflect the new image of the catfisherman. To promote legislation and conservation to protect and help the catfish fishery to strive and prosper. We as a professional catfishing team will always maintain proper decorum and ethics on the water and fight for legislation to protect our fisheries from pollution and environmental dangers imposed by industries that use our water resources as dumping grounds for their toxic wastes. We will promote legislation to protect our watersheds and wetlands from those who wish to exploit and ravish them for personal or industrial gain. Our conservation goals are to rebuild lost habitats and restore our rivers and lakes to their natural states while preserving the industrial needs of our economy to use these water ways for commerce and transportation. We will work with natural resource agencies to require pleasure boaters to meet federally imposed guild lines for emissions and performance as with the auto industry to ensure our water ways stay healthy. We will work to help and support clean up efforts and restoration efforts by local water front communities to restore and maintain their water ways for all to enjoy. We will work with schools and community groups to show and educate our young people about the benefits and pleasures that can come from a healthy water shed and to show them how the industrial pollutants can damage the entire community around the watershed by polluting ground water and destroying spawning beds and natural aquatic plants that act as natural filters of our rivers and streems.
